Special Ops: Lioness Part 3 is a bit of a letdown after the set-up of the first two instalments. Devoid of tension whatsoever, the main narrative drive involves Cruz hanging out with Aaliyah, at a compound owned by a fictitious major oil company. Sure, most of Aaliyah’s friends are assholes but is Cruz ever in danger of blowing her cover? Nope. The only “threat” is when some Arab predator attempts to make a move on her, which given Cruz’s military training is a non-threat completely.

Yes, Special Ops: Lioness Part 3 once again depicts the tension and conflict Joe faces at home due to the lack of any meaningful time, she spends with her family. But that is so scattered and under-developed that it is impossible to engage with. Who really cares if her daughter is making out with her boyfriend, when the story is supposed to be about terrorism? Sheesh.

Not only that but the only real action sequence has nothing to do with Joe and Cruz, as three of Joe’s men is lent out to another CIA operative douchebag, to intercept and retrieve one of his assets from the police. Yes mildly interesting but has nothing to do with the main plot whatsoever. Again, why should we give a fuck? This series is already wasting its promise and potential. Damn.
