Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 6 is the sixth and final instalment of the second season of a spy thriller television series based on the “Dead Lions” novel by Mick Herron. The 6-episode season 2 is streaming on Apple TV+. The series follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes.

Entitled “Old Scores”, Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 6 wraps up another superior season of this excellent series. In fact, the plot was so intricate and well-crafted that the various twists and turns along the way even fooled this reviewer! Masterful writing! Now, this is the way to engage your audience! This season demonstrated the brilliance & ruthlessness of the Russian spies that flummoxed most of Slough Houses with the exception of their boss, Jonathan Lamb – always one step ahead!
If nothing else, perhaps Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 6 demonstrates why the likes of River, Louisa, Shirley, Roddy and Marcus were assigned to Slough House – they are all incompetent in some measure – but then one realises pretty quickly that someone like ‘Spider’ Webb, a proper MI5 operative, has been useless throughout as well!
Ultimately, the bomb threat – that River called in – was a hoax to get the authorities to evacuate the Glass House so that FSB agent Paskin could steal from the deceased dissident Nevsky’s account. Although the Slough House personnel managed to turn things around, the entire incident was a major embarrassment that had to be kept from the public.
The series also pushed character development further with Diana Taverner manipulating herself into First Chair at MI5, while Lamb – despite appearances – proved to be sharp as a razor in dealing with the Russian problem. Chernitsky – a genuine Russian sleeper agent – plotted with Pashkin and Nitinsky for a price – revenge against the MI5 boss who ordered the execution of double agent Charles Partner viz. David Cartwright, River’s grandfather. Yes all very deliciously complicated. Best news? Season 3 is coming soon! Highly recommended!!
