Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 4 is the fourth instalment of the second season of a spy thriller television series based on the “Dead Lions” novel by Mick Herron. The 6-episode season 2 is streaming on Apple TV+. The series follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes.

Entitled “Cicada”, Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 4 finds the Slough House personnel in dangerous territory as the “Cicada” network of Russian spies has become much more than they can handle. After Min Harper’s death in the previous episode being classified as an accident, Lamb wrings the truth out of the driver – Harper was murdered by Chernitsky, who also killed Dickie – the accident was staged and the entire investigation takes a vicious turn.
Chernitsky turns up at the Tropper lunch as River sizes him up, fully aware of what he has done. River, to his credit, takes action as quickly as possible, hunting Chernitsky and Duncan Tropper down before being surprised by Mrs Tropper, his fatal mistake was in trusting that she was not involved. Before the episode fades, there is a strong suggestion that River might be flung out of a plane!
Slow Horses Season 2 Ep 4 demonstrates that perhaps the our cast of characters were exiled to Slough House for a good reason – they are not really that suited for the spy game at all. Still, Lamb remains the ace in the pack and despite his advanced years and disheveled disposition appears to be sharp as a tack when it comes to doing the job of a spy.
Bit of a cliff-hanger for poor old River – how will he survive his predicament?!?!?
