Entitled “Bad Tradecraft”, Slow Horses Episode 3 finds everything going wrong for MI5 in their false flag operation to discredit the British far-right. And as unlikely as it might seem, the misfits and rejects of Slough House may in the end wind up saving the day. In any case, at this moment, Lamb and his minions seem more clued in than Taverner and her monumental cock-ups.

The twists and turns in Slow Horses Episode 3 will keep viewers on the edge of their seats trying to figure out how everything will resolve itself. Gary Oldham’s Lamb steals the entire show with his sardonic remarks and quick wit – the dialogue is delicious as he one-ups Taverner and her arrogance. There is a wonderful realism about Slow Horses that mines relevance in modern UK sensibilities.
The episode title says it all really. Everything goes tits up at the very end. The tense drama in the hostage scenario was efficiently played out with emotions and power dynamic moving fluidly throughout. The writing is superb and the characterisation is caustic and unforgiving – clearly, the series paints MI5 as a clueless organisation with their heads up their collective arse.
In this situation, it is so easy for the audience to root for the underdogs viz. the denizens of Slough House, the very same agents cast off by MI5, as they ultimately win the day, or try their best to…
