Shining Girls Episode 6 is the sixth instalment of an American thriller streaming television series based on the 2013 novel The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes. Though ostensibly about a serial killer, there are supernatural horror elements in this series that recalls the Stephen King HBO adaptation The Outsider from 2018.

Entitled “Bright”, Shining Girls Episode 6 finally provides us patient viewers with a modicum of an explanation about how Harper Curtis does what he does i.e. travel in time. Though the exposition provided might actually still be unsatisfactory, at least, there is an acknowledgement that Curtis is a time traveller, of sorts.

As suspected, Shining Girls Episode 6, reveals that both Leo and Curtis date back to the Great War i.e. World War I and that’s when this episode begins – 1918. The duo are both soldiers and that’s how they meet. Curtis – right from the first time we see him chronologically – is a narcissistic sociopath. We are also introduced to Klara, a dancer, who is Curtis’ unrequited love interest. This is the same girl we saw in the videotape Kirby obtained from Leo in the last episode.
Anyways, quite randomly both Curtis and Leo break into this house, in which time travel is possible. Yes, that’s basically it! The house is what allows Curtis to time travel. No further explanation than that! Rather infuriating. Yes, there is a former time jumping occupant but we find out nothing from him as he dies not long after he is introduced! Frustrating!
So, the time travel is supernatural and not scientific in nature? Appears so. Not only that but it seems that only Curtis can do the time jumping and Leo and Klara are not able to at all. Why? Who knows? Will this mystery ever make sense? Hope so!
