She-Hulk Episode 5

She-Hulk Episode 5 is the fifth instalment of a Disney+ superhero streaming TV comedy drama miniseries based on the Marvel Comics character, and set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The miniseries will have nine parts and focus on what happens when Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner’s cousin, becomes a Hulk as well.

Entitled “Mean, Green and Straight Poured into These Jeans”, She-Hulk Episode 5 is such a boring and pointless viewing exercise that by now, the She-Hulk experience is genuinely a hate-watch and nothing else. The premise of the episode was illogical. As teased at the end of the previous episode, She-Hulk is sued by Titania as the trademark owner of the She-Hulk name. Titania is using the trademark for a line of beauty products.

She-Hulk Episode 5 demonstrates once again that the writers of this series have no clue what legal drama even is, as clearly they have failed to do any research whatsoever. How was Titania even able to trademark the She-Hulk name in the first place? By now, everybody knows who She-Hulk is, even logically the folks at the Trademark office, and in any case, Titania would need to prove that she has goodwill in the name, which she does not. The episode’s shortcut to that is simply state that it’s all about who trademarks the name first. Nope.

She-Hulk Episode 5

Even though, there was clearly a lawsuit commenced by Titania against She-Hulk, somehow in the courtroom, She-Hulk is seeking a summary judgement against Titania (?) – very confusing. The one thematic thread that is pulled in this episode is that Jen finally accepts that she is She-Hulk. Although, in order to win her case, she had to humiliate herself in court – something the series does quite a bit for cheap laughs. Does not say much about female empowerment, does it?

And the Plot B concerning Jen’s need to get a new suit – in the end, we don’t even get to see She-Hulk in her new suit! Wasn’t that the whole point? Are we got was a glimpse at Daredevil’s mask…. yes, another damn Easter Egg again! Ugh.

She-Hulk Episode 5

It’s getting to the point where hate-watching She-Hulk by itself is still unsatisfying and She-Hulk Episode 5 demonstrates this perfectly. The lack of a cameo this time around meant that there was nothing to distract us from how bad the episode was this time. Thank goodness that each episode is under 30 minutes – and there is only 4 episodes left! What an utter shit show!!

Now streaming on Disney+.
