Entitled “Home”, Secret Invasion Ep 6 closes the book on what might be the worst Disney+ MCU TV series ever. And that’s counting the risible She-Hulk! The main problem is that the series tries its best to be epic and significant but instead is small and irrelevant. How else to explain this series finale which boils down to two fight scenes viz. one at a hospital and the other – a ridiculous superpowered battle – in an abandoned nuclear station.

First, the hospital sequence. Once Sonya has the drop on “Rhodey”, why doesn’t she shoot “him” in the leg so that the leg would revert to Skrull form, like she did in the previous episode? Instead we have this silly contrived Mexican stand-off that is devoid of tension whatsoever. Secondly, that awful superpowered battle previously mentioned between Gravik and G’iah (disguised as Fury) both imbued with the collective abilities of the Avengers and Captain Marvel (!) How does that work, exactly? Considering how powerful Captain Marvel is supposed to be, that battle would have caused more destruction than several nuclear bombs, no? An embarrassing sequence.

In the final analysis, Secret Invasion Ep 6 is an excellent concept but thoroughly wasted by the hacks now occupying the MCU writing room. Worth nothing that Disney is thinking of delaying the release of The Marvels till 2024, and if this tepid series was meant to be a lead-in, then expect the Captain Marvel sequel to be as big as a flop as most of the Disney+ MCU TV series. Ugh. Avoid.
