Rick and Morty Season 6 Ep 6

Entitled “Juricksic Mort”, Rick and Morty Season 6 Ep 6 is yet another strong standalone episode – feel like we are repeating ourselves with each Rick and Morty analysis but there you go. The premise is as usual very unique and intriguing. The dinosaurs – thought to be extinct – had evolved to such a stage that a group of them left earth to help other planets. After thousands of years, the dinosaurs return to Earth to find that their species is no more! The dinosaurs rule the Earth once more and create a utopia, a heaven on Earth. Of course, humans beings detest the lack of conflict, greed and avarice and the President of the USA begs Rick to get rid of the dinosaurs.

Rick agrees to take on the task – in exchange for hosting the Oscars (!) – and he discovers that one by-product of the dinosaurs’ goodness is the creation of an evil rock species that attacks every planet in which dinosaurs exist, which explains what happened to the dinosaurs on Earth way back when. One such meteor is headed to Earth as the dinosaurs have returned but the dinosaurs refuse to destroy the meteor because of y’know their ‘goodness’ and instead leave the Earth. Rick forces the dinosaurs to destroy the meteor and Rick ends up hosting the Oscars.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Ep 6

Rick and Morty Season 6 Ep 6 is another brilliant densely plotted episode but underneath the fun and games is an incisive commentary on the human need for the negative qualities that the dinosaurs had gotten rid of with their utopian principles. The episode highlights the flaws with utopian society and very much makes a mockery of the foundational premise of Star Trek and many other similar scifi franchises. A brilliant Rick and Morty episode yet again. One of the best TV series out there. Highly recommended!
