Rick and Morty S05E06 is the sixth episode of season 5 in this scifi fantasy action-adventure animated comedy created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The series follows the misadventures of cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his good-hearted but fretful grandson Morty Smith, who split their time between domestic life and inter-dimensional adventures.
Entitled “Rick & Morty’s Thanksploitation Spectacular”, Rick and Morty S05E06 presents us with a Thanksgiving themed episode like no other! The story finds Rick facing off once again with the President of the United States (voiced by Keith David), but this time they need to put away their differences and band together against a common foe viz. a turkey that has been transformed into a copy of the POTUS!
POTUS has already been featured in Season 5 – in the super-sperm episode – so, it’s rather unusual to see this (admittedly) popular character turn up again. As always, it is fun to see the two super-egos get to grips with one another, trying their best to outthink and outwit the other. This time, they may have met their match as the turkeys take their revenge on humans for centuries of oppression. Huh.

Rick and Morty S05E06 dives deep also into National Treasure-like conspiracy tropes regarded the hidden bounty secreted in the bowels of the White House and other American monuments. There is also snide commentary on the military types showcased in these kinds of scifi blockbusters – dumb, white and poor – which guest voice actor Timothy Olyphant satirises with glee.
Rick and Morty S05E06 is probably not as good as the super-sperm episode – think of it as purely functional though diehard fans will no doubt enjoy the usual tropes and cliches. Has Rick and Morty hit the ceiling creatively? We sincerely hope not.
