Raised by Wolves Season 2 Episodes 1 – 2 are the first two episodes of the second season of an American science fiction drama television series created by Aaron Guzikowski. Famed director Ridley Scott is an executive producer on the series and directed the first two episodes of season 1. Thus, the series carries many of the genre hallmarks associated with Scott’s science fiction films especially, the Alien franchise, which we will discuss further below.

The premise of Raised by Wolves Season 1, to recap, concerns “two androids, Father and Mother, tasked with raising human children on Kepler-22b after the Earth was destroyed by a great war (between the Mithraic and Atheist factions). As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.”

At the end of the first season, Mother (aka Lamia) and Father discovered that there was a previously unexplored sector of the planet viz. the tropical zone. Now in Season 2 we find out that other Atheists had commandeered a Mithraic ark ship and were operating a settlement named The Collective through an A.I. called the Trust. The Collective had welcomed Lamia and her family into their society but unbeknownst to The Collective, there is a serpentine creature (number seven, birthed by Lamia) loose in the Tropical Zone.

In addition, the former atheist soldier and now Mithraic warrior-priest Marcus has found his way into the Tropical Zone and intends to raise a new army of Sol-believers to establish Mithraic dominance once more. He hopes to convert the enslaved Mithraic and even the Atheists to his cause. Obviously, he is quite insane but his delusions make him very dangerous.

Raised by Wolves Season 2 Episodes 1 – 2 provide a good start to Season 2, setting up a whole bunch of potential conflicts that will no doubt be paid off this season. Thematically, the series continues to explore ideas about robotics viz. what does it mean to be human? And also the tension between religious belief and atheism. Which makes season 2 very promising indeed!
