Entitled “Tom”, Rabbit Hole Ep 5 leans into the imagery of the series title but only in so far as it relates to Weir’s understanding of his predicament rather than getting any closer to thwarting Crowley. In fact, there is an extended flashback sequence to reveal that Weir’s belief that his team is still alive – despite the office bombing – was erroneous. Worse still, their deaths were caused by Dr. Wilson’s misguided plan to kill the intern.
Yes, there is a ton of exposition in Rabbit Hole Ep 5, but nothing that advances the main plot line one bit. The whole revelation about Weir’s team actually being dead is … well, meaningless. Who really cares? The only contribution it makes to the story is in respect of Weir’s character development – he can no longer trust his father anymore. Which puts the entire father-son relationship and their plan moving forward in jeopardy.
Oh and one more thing, the idea that both Weir and Dr. Wilson – highly trained espionage operatives – missing the fact that the expensive whisky was chipped is simply ridiculous. These people are spies? We find that increasingly hard to believe. Disappointing.
