2017 promises to be an exciting year for #THENEWROCKNROLL and the upcoming new album from Manchester’s Dutch Uncles provides more evidence for optimism!
Check out the title track off the much-anticipated Big Balloon, where Yes meets XTC somehow combining the bass sound of the late Chris Squire with the songwriting chops of Colin Moulding!
In the band’s press release comparisons to Kate Bush’s Red Shoes and Bowie’s Low are made and while it is true that there is an art-rock edge to much of the album, the pervasiveness of an new wave-styled prog-rock agenda cannot be ignored, with the early 80s-era King Crimson also a very strong influence.
Big Balloon drops on February 17th courtesy of Memphis Industries.
