Short, sharp punky garagey rock ‘n’ roll is on the agenda when it comes to Arizona band, Fairy Bones.
To be honest, for us, the album didn’t really grab us by the collective scrotum till the fourth track – “Incapable” and its slinky seductive sheen. Not to mention that singer Chelsey Louise positively shines on its poppy tune.
0% Fun takes off from that point – “Pink Plastic Cups” is another sexy stomp, with Louise channeling Chrissy Hynde in the best possible way.
“Look Good For the Radio” bristles with old school charm – very Blondie – as an anthemic chorus draws the listener in – hook line and sinker – with a lyric that slays!
So the album isn’t perfect – don’t be put off by the generic nature of the first 3 tracks – but wouldn’t it be boring if it was. Thank God for “Incapable” for making it all worthwhile to be patient.
There’s a whole load of true blue rock ‘n’ roll attitude being shot out here that should bedazzle the majority of the PoP faithful. That’s really good enough, doncha think?
… still there’s more …
