Hand Sand Hands (a.k.a. Jonathan Miller) is the kind of artist we need more of. Personal self-expression that pays no attention to what’s hip or cool.
This is truly rock music as art. It’s brave, ambitious and sometimes does not even quite work but the wild successes are worth the effort.
Lofi and austere in scope, the songs are vignettes of melodic and sonic experimentation. At its most tuneful, the music recalls Fleet Foxes and the like.
