A recap on the songs we dug in the last quarter. All rock, no filler.
Big Eyes’ “Stake My Claim” is a melodic rocker that in its 2:22 minutes encapsulates most of what we have been rambling on about #THENEWROCKNROLL. It’s immediate, unfussy and utterly memorable. Great fun!

Okay so this is borderline mainstream pop but there is enough cheek and vile intent in its pop-rock agenda that suggests a Runaways update – if that’s possible – and a politically savvy bridge no less. So yeah, check out Hey Violet’s “Fuqboi” and kick out the jams. Heh.

What we used to call ‘indie pop’ or ‘alt-rock’ back in the 80s is what Cool Ghouls does impeccably. But since those terms have been co-opted by shit bands, let’s just settle for #THENEWROCKNROLL shall we? “Sundial” is gorgeous mining of The Byrds, Soft Boys and REM territory. Brilliant.

Retro-pop is a big deal here at Power of Pop and that’s why The Rebel Light is such a godsend and why the catchy “Where Did All The Love Go” is a clear winner in the pop-rock stakes. Meaty, beaty and bouncy, what more do you want with your new music?

There’s a potent 90s Pop Underground vibe about Dreamers that just gets our hopes up about what is possible with #THENEWROCKNROLL! “Drugs” is a standout track from this awesome band.
