PICARD SEASON 2 EPISODE 6 (ANALYSIS)

Picard Season 2 Episode 6 is the fourth chapter of the 2nd season of an American television series created by Akiva Goldsman, Michael Chabon, Kirsten Beyer, and Alex Kurtzman for the streaming service Paramount+. The series is a spin-off of Star Trek: The Next Generation (STTNG) with the titular character Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) as its central focal point.

Entitled “Two of One”, Picard Season 2 Episode 6 is probably the worst episode of this dire second season! Maybe that’s why Paramount has already released a teaser for season 3 (!) which brings back the crew of STTNG. Something to get the fans excited about because this second season is just not cutting it at all. Which considering the quality of the first season, is terribly disappointing.

But the writing was on the wall from the moment it was announced that the premise of season 2 involved time travel, always a tricky proposition. True enough, the writers have not managed to come up with a plot that makes any sense whatsoever. The amount of times the story jumps the shark, especially in this episode, is just too much to take.

Making Renee Picard’s (conveniently an ancestor of Jean-Luc) failure to be part of the Europa Space Mission the reason why the world turned fascistic is simply ludicrous. Seriously, why would that insignificant event be the cause for the dark future seen in the first episode? And what about that scene when – with the Borg Queen’s assistance (unexplained as well) – Dr. Jurati provides a distraction by performing a full song number with zero rehearsal with the band whatsoever. That’s not how music performances work, dear clueless writers. What the actual fuck?

Will Picard Season 2 Episode 6 be the season’s nadir or is worse to come? Who knows?
