Peacemaker S01E06 Review

Peacemaker S01E06 is the sixth episode of an American superhero comedy drama streaming television series created by James Gunn for the streaming service HBO Max, based on the DC Comics character Peacemaker. It is the first DC Extended Universe (DCEU) television series, a spin-off from the 2021 film The Suicide Squad.

Peacemaker S01E06 Review

Entitled “Murn After Reading”, Peacemaker S01E06 continues after last episode’s cliff-hanger with a predictable anti-climax. Considering the expansive scope of the premise – Peacemaker and gang trying to stop an alien invasion – this episode actually sets up the series to be very local, as the alien Butterflies take over a police station with the aim to take out our titular anti-hero. To spice things up further, Peacemaker’s father the White Dragon has been released from prison and is itching to take revenge against his own son.

Peacemaker S01E06 Review

All of which sets up what should be a fiery and feisty penultimate episode as Peacemaker and gang are attacked on two fronts. So does this make Peacemaker S01E06 a bit of a transitional instalment? In a way but the story events are integral to further the plot towards that particular end. It should be interesting to see how the series resolves these threads of tension and conflict.

Peacemaker S01E06 Review

Most of the Peacemaker series has attempted to give Peacemaker a character arc which moves him away from the mindless killer that we saw in The Suicide Squad. Thus, Vigilante is utilised as his perfect foil as Adrian Chase remains a cold-blooded killer and Peacemaker spends time in restraining Chase’s bloodthirsty ways throughout. Peacemaker is genuinely doing his best to find a better solution to the challenges placed before him, rather than resorting to violence first.

Peacemaker S01E06 Review

Peacemaker S01E06 continues to establish the series as one of the stronger superhero TV series out there, more than holding its own against any of the Disney+ Marvel Studios releases so far. Highly recommended!
