Entitled “Seattle”, Pam & Tommy Episode 8 is a heartfelt instalment of this over-the-top depiction of a trio of protagonists that were not left unscathed by their actions. For Rand (Seth Rogan), he experiences an epiphany that forces him to accept responsibility for all the ill luck that he has been suffering from, ever since his bad encounter with Tommy Lee way back in episode 1. For Tommy Lee, he suffers the consequences of failing to turn off his male ego in this entire scenario and as a results loses Pam – the love of his life.

Most of all, Pam & Tommy Episode 8 makes all of us realise that Pam was the innocent victim in this whole sorry spectacle. Despite her sex symbol image, that did not entitle the world to disregard her feelings about her privacy. The toxic masculinity of both Tommy Lee and Rand wrecked havoc on Pam in the crossfire. Although in the end, Pam did find a place for herself in this unforgiving world as a mother.
Thematically, Pam & Tommy explores celebrity culture and the manner in which the internet has completely warped this for the worse. Everything we take for granted in these contemporary times regarding the internet e.g. cancel culture, fake news, social media addiction etc were barely imaginable in the 1990s. In the final analysis, this series provided an insight to the genesis of this dark phenomenon. Not quite perfect but the message does ultimately come through.
