Entitled “Time and Again”, Ms. Marvel Episode 5 is – sad to report – an extremely boring instalment of this increasingly pointless origin series. It spends half its running time showing us what was mentioned in previous dialogue i.e. Kamala’s grandma Sana being separated from her father Hasan before returning to him led by glowing stars. Oh and now there’s a twist, that was possible thanks to Kamala’s intervention.

Yes, Ms. Marvel Episode 5 has Kamala traveling back in time to assist her Grandma! How? No explanations whatsoever. Just accept this at face value is what the episode is saying! Before that critical event, we are given an altogether too long flashback – Aisha meets Hasan, they have baby Sana, Najima (ClanDestine) discovers Aisha’s hiding place, Aisha decides the family must flee to Pakistan and she dies at Najima’s hands as her family gets on the train. Now, this is what we do not get – why did Hasan get on the train without Aisha? He didn’t even want to go to Pakistan in the first place! So now, Aisha is missing and he does not look for her at all??!?!?!? What an idiot.
Then, the portal is opened – how again nobody knows? – and it proceeds to destroy two of the ClanDestine, including Najima but not before she somehow transfers powers to her son Kamran, on the other side of the world! Again no explanations are offered. Not only that but last we saw of Kamran, ClanDestine had abandoned him on the Raft. How did he manage to escape the Raft and return to Jersey City??? No idea.
Ms. Marvel Episode 5 is quite possibly the worst Disney+ MCU episode so far, and that is really saying something. Thankfully, only one more episode to endure. Sigh.
Now streaming on Disney+.
… still there’s more …
