Entitled “Crushed”, Ms. Marvel Episode 2 expands on the life of our main character Kamala Khan as she tries to figure out her newfound powers and their origins, while navigating the challenges of high school, her parents and Kamram her crush. Oh yes, and in addition, the government is after her as an enhanced individual, presumably because she is in violation of the Sokovia Accords (go and watch Captain America: Civil War).

Ms. Marvel Episode 2 is an absolute delight. The series has ushered in a refreshing change of tone for the MCU, especially since Kamala is a Muslim girl, the series touches on subjects seldom (to never) seen in superhero dramas. Kamala is superbly written and ably brought to life by Iman Vellani, and for once, we are presented with the different perspective of an American high school girl!
Now since the ‘ordinary’ aspects of Kamala have been handled well, the issue now is whether the series can make sense of Kamala’s powers and origins, which has deviated greatly from the source material. Also, how does Kamala’s powers tie in with the understanding of cosmic powers in the MCU? The intriguing bit is that we are introduced to Kamala’s great-grandmother (in story accounts), who may have had superpowers and in the end, Kamram’s mother, who seems to have a connection to Kamala’s powers. All set up nicely for episode 3! Recommended!!
