Miracleman: The Silver Age #2 is the remastered second issue of the Silver Age storyline that was originally published in Miracleman #24, thirty years ago! This chapter of the Miracleman saga was cut short after only two issues due to the demise of the publisher, Eclipse Comics. Subsequently, the rights to Miracleman were legally disputed between writer Neil Gaiman and Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane before Marvel Comics acquired these rights in 2013.

Miracleman: The Silver Age #2 features a solid story of Young Miracleman’s return and like the classic Captain America trope, feels like a man out of time, like a fish out of water. Dicky Dauntless tries his best to acclimatise to his new surroundings, besides coming to terms with the fact that his memories were all false implants but struggles to do so.

Most of all, Dicky is unable to reconcile his memory of the young and innocent Johnny Bates with the evil Kid Miracleman, even when confronted with the grisly evidence of Bates’ wanton destruction of London in the archives. At the back of his mind, he suspects that Miracleman must be responsible somehow for Bates’ behaviour.

This is compounded by Miracleman misreading the situation with Dicky – believing that there was a homosexual attraction between the two – a belief egged on by Miraclewoman. What follows is a complete breakdown as Dicky explodes in rage at Miracleman’s advances and he flies away to try to make sense of it all. The issue ended there as a cliff-hanger and blurb “to be continued” hung in suspension for 30 years!
That original issue i.e. Miracleman #24 was so powerful, the anticipation of what came next has never been satisfied till now. Well, till late December when finally with Miracleman: The Silver Age #3, the story will be continued. Can hardly wait!
