Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phases 5 – 6 is our response to the recent announcements made by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige at the San Diego Comic Convention. The number of new films and TV set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is staggering and confirms Marvel Studio’s plans to keep its stranglehold on contemporary pop culture.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the end of Phase 4

Before getting to Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phases 5 – 6, Feige presented the first teaser for the Black Panther sequel as the completion of Phase 4. The movie is notable for the absence of the late Chadwick Boseman and the introductions of a new Black Panther (possibly Shuri?), Namor the Sub-Mariner and Riri Williams/Ironheart. Check out the teaser below.
MCU Phase 5

Phase 5 will encompass 2023 and 2024 essentially and significant films include Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts (!). While on the streaming roster, the likes of Secret Invasion and Loki Season 2 (2023) caught the eye and of course, the 18-episode Daredevil: Born Again (2024)!
MCU Phase 6

The slate for Phase 6 is somewhat bare save for a couple of heavy hitters. Fantastic Four will be released in November 2024 to kick off Phase 6, which will end dramatically with TWO Avengers movies back to back viz. The Kang Dynasty (May 2025) and Secret Wars (November 2025)! It was obviously important for Fiege and Marvel Studios to announced the Avengers movies to generate a buzz as the response to Phase 4 has been mixed and somewhat under-whelming.
X-Men?

The fact that there seems to be free slots in Phase 6 compared to its predecessor suggests perhaps that there might be room for Marvel Studios to launch the MCU version of the X-Men, which is what most fans will be waiting for! Surely, the continuation of the X-Men animated cartoon series is novelty enough but let’s the most popular superhero team of all time back on screen (and done right) as soon as possible!
Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phases 5 – 6 will make or break Marvel Studios for sure. After the wild success of The Infinity Saga, can The Multiverse Saga (as Phases 4 – 6 have been collectively dubbed) equal or even exceed these achievements? We shall see…
