LANEWAY SINGAPORE 2016 BREAKDOWN – GRIMES, HERMITUDE & HUDSON MOHAWKE

Laneway2016

Laneway Singapore 2016 is now less than two weeks away and Power of Pop gives you the lowdown on the TWENTY-ONE artists who will grace the occasion on 30th January (in alphabetical order).

GRIMES

Canadian electro-pop artiste Grimes (a.k.a. Claire Elise Boucher) last visited our shores in 2013 at the Mosaic Music Festival. Her image of late (as expressed in music video) has been inspired by the theatrical influences of David Bowie and Queen. Musically there is no comparison, but her light-hearted pop melodies will certainly go down very well with the younger set.

Recommended for – twentysomething indie pop lovers.

HERMITUDE

An Australian electronic hip hop duo, originating from the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Hermitude viz. Luke Dubber (aka Luke Dubs) and Angus Stuart (aka El Gusto) have been making waves both home and abroad for their energetic electronic approach. Live, they provide a physicality to delivering their set, in contrast to many of their peers.

Recommended for – twentysomething electro-dance lovers.

HUDSON MOHAWKE

Scottish electronic music record producer, disk jockey, and songwriter Ross Birchard goes by the stage name, Hudson Mohawke. Acclaimed for his genre-bending works, Birchard is well known for his intricately diverse sonic approach and manipulates his tools creatively to attain new sounds.
