Krapopolis Season 1 Ep 4 Analysis

Krapopolis Season 1 Ep 4 is the fourth entry of the first season of an American animated sitcom created by Dan (Rick and Morty) Harmon for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show is set in mythical ancient Greece and centers on a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters trying to run one of the world’s first cities (the titular city) without killing each other. The series has already been renewed for its second AND third seasons!

Premise
Entitled “Prometheus”, Krapopolis Season 1 Ep 4 follows the two plot formula already established in the series. The main storyline is given away by the episode title, as Tyrannis and Hippocamus decide to free Prometheus (yes, that one!) from his Zeus decreed punishment. The secondary plot involves Stupendous and her search for her cyclops father, aided by Shlub.

Good
The Prometheus plot is brilliant as the half-brothers subsequently regret liberating him. First, Deliria has a thing for Prometheus, which disgusts Tyrannis naturally and secondly, the titan – besides being hugely narcissistic – is saddled with a saviour complex. Ben Stiller is superb as the fire-giver!

Bad
The Stupendous storyline fails to keep up with a lacklustre narrative that hardly any laughs whatsoever. There is some emotional resonance in building up the relationship between Shlub and Stupendous, with the former functioning as a step-father of sorts. The cyclops are somewhat one-dimensional, it must be said.

Conclusion
In the final analysis, Krapopolis Season 1 Ep 4 is good fun overall, with enough references to familiar mythological figures to operate as effective satire. The various main characters are bedding in nicely enough.
