Invincible S01E06 is the sixth instalment of the first season of an animated superhero action-adventure TV drama streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The series is based on the Image Comic of the same name, created by writer Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and artist Cory Walker.

Entitled “You Look Kinda Dead”, Invincible S01E06 takes our main character – Mark Grayson – out of his superhero lifestyle as he attempts to reclaim a normalcy that has been denied him ever since his powers became active. Thus, in this episode, Mark joins William and Amber on a campus visit to Upstate University, hoping to discover a new future for himself.
Inevitably, of course, fate has different ideas and Mark confronts yet another villain – the mad scientist trope – that demands that Invincible needs to make an appearance despite himself. While the deconstructive aspect of the story breaking down the villainous DA Sinclair (voiced by Ezra Miller) was intriguing, the logic of the premise eluded us somewhat. How was Sinclair able to get away with his experiments for so long? If so many students were disappearing, would that not entail a serious police investigation? Anyways…
Elsewhere, the more interesting drama revolves around Debbie’s discovery that her husband Omni-Man was responsible for the brutal massacre of the Guardians of the Globe. This along with other sub-plots – like Robot’s machinations with the Mauler Twins – will hopefully pay off in the final two episodes of this excellent season.
Invincible S01E06 was yet another enjoyable and entertaining superhero action drama. It would be a shame if Invincible is not given at least a couple more seasons to tell more of Kirkman’s original comic book stories. Season 1 has been a definite winner thus far.
Now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
