Invasion Season 2 Ep 4

Invasion Season 2 Ep 4 is the fourteenth chapter of an American science fiction television series created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil. As stated in our analysis of Season 1, “the series features a high concept premise but fails miserably in terms of plot and characterisation – poor execution truly let down the intriguing premise.” Essentially, that intriguing premise involves an alien invasion seen through the different perspectives of various people on different continents across the world. However, despite this, the series was renewed for a second season and so here we are.

S P O I L E R S

Entitled “The Tunnel”, Invasion Season 2 Ep 4, focuses purely on the English schoolmates of Casper as they attempt to cross the English channel to get to Paris, where Casper is currently recuperating in a hospital. Indirectly, the episode also highlights the consequences of the attack on the alien spacecrafts (seen in the previous chapter) i.e. retaliation in form of more dangerous alien creatures.

Invasion Season 2 Ep 4 is thus of very narrow focus and whether the audience is able to engage with this entry very much depends on connection with these schoolchildren. Which is challenging, cuz other than little Pen (Monty’s little sister), the rest of the schoolchildren are annoying as hell. Especially, Jamila – portrayed as a teenaged Mary Sue that knows all and does all – haven’t we had enough of these unrealistic and unrelatable characters???

All of which brings season 2 back to square one – boring and ponderous – after the plot advances of the previous chapter. Who really cares about any of these characters? What difference does it make to the series plot in general, if they are able to make it through the tunnel? None whatsoever. Hmmm.
