Invasion Season 2 Ep 1

Invasion Season 2 Ep 1 is the eleventh chapter of an American science fiction television series created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil. As stated in our analysis of Season 1, “the series features a high concept premise but fails miserably in terms of plot and characterisation – poor execution truly let down the intriguing premise.” Essentially, that intriguing premise involves an alien invasion seen through the different perspectives of various people on different continents across the world. However, despite this, the series was renewed for a second season and so here we are.

S P O I L E R S

Entitled “Everything’s Changed”, Invasion Season 2 Ep 1 begins by revealing that the aliens have indeed invaded Earth and the planet is now under the charge of the World Defence Council (WDC), suffering massive losses in the face of the aliens’ superior technology. The first sequence is in Japan as Mitsuki Yamato – who managed to figure out a means to contact the aliens – fights the aliens like a lady boss in the streets, before being whisked away against her will.

Invasion Season 2 Ep 1 also catches us up with Aneesha Malik and her two children, on the run from both humans and aliens alike before she encounters the Movement in British Columbia. The Movement is basically an organisation rebelling against the WDC, in particular its draconian manner of administering the human survivors. The Movement rescue Malik and her family from the military and Malik has to consider her next move.

Back with Yamato, we discover that she was taken for the purpose of visiting the alien craft that was brought down due to her aforementioned contact. Obviously, Yamato has a connection with the aliens which is why Nikhil Kapoor wants her to enter the alien ship, a risky proposition as we are told that previous scientists who had done so were all psychologically damaged by the experience.

In the final analysis, nothing much happens as we begin Season 2 in earnest. Certainly hope things pick up soon enough.
