X-Men in the 80s! Continuing the new timeline established by X-Men: Days of Future Past, our merry band of mutants face off with their biggest challenge yet – mutant prime, Apocalypse! Thankfully, in this first trailer, our villain (Oscar Issac, above) looks frighteningly faithful to the original and that should assuage the skeptics.
The trailer begins with Jean Grey (Sophie Turner, above left) experiencing an apocalyptic vision (well, of course!) before Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) explains to Professor X (James McAvoy) and Havok (Lucas Til) and the audience, who exactly Apocalypse is.
Basically, Apocalypse is aided by his four horsemen (above) viz. Magneto (Michael Fassbinder), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Archangel (Ben Hardy) & Psylocke (Olivia Munn) to claim the earth for mutantkind.
Professor X is apparently abducted by Apocalypse and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) has to lead the team viz. Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Cyclops (Tye Sheriden), Jean Grey, Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Jubilee (Lana Condor). *Whew*
The sheer number of characters in this is staggering. But there’s no doubt that the trailer makes the prospect of this movie very promising. 2016 is the year of the superhero! Check it out…
