CW’s TV adaptation of DC’s The Flash is distinctive for its lighter tone (compared to Arrow, of course) and while that’s what makes it fun, it can also make the show somewhat silly, at times.
Case in point – episode 11 “The Sound and the Fury” which revealed yet another person adversely affected by the explosion of STAR Labs particle accelerator viz. Hartley Rathaway (Pied Piper), a former STAR Labs employee who was fired just become the accident.
Rathaway (Andy Mientus) – who also happens to be gay (which relevance was hard to discern) – creates sonic weapons to take his revenge on Dr. Harrison Wells. One thing leads to another and Rathaway is defeated but not before a twist is revealed that will probably take us into the next episode.
By now, everyone knows Wells is the Reverse-Flash, though his true motives remain unclear. Certainly, that was the main tease in the episode with Rathaway threatening to reveal Wells’ secrets but it was not to be.
A very average episode. Hopefully things will pick up quickly as we come to the halfway stage of the season.
