Entitled “Once Upon A Time”, FROM Season 2 Ep 10 is for the most part a very disappointing season finale. With all the tension built up from the last episode especially with the precarious conditions of Randall, Julie and Mari. somehow the plot deemed it necessary to include the wedding of Ellis and Fatima (!) and an existential crisis for Boyd as he berated God for his cruelty. Seriously WTF?!
That all said, FROM Season 2 Ep 10 did address the matters at hand, with Jade exploring the tunnel, Tabitha seeking Victor’s aid on the tower and Boyd finally discovering the means by which to save the trio caught in the cicadas’ thrall. However, logic wise, it did not make sense that Tabitha waited so long to find her way to the tower and it was rather convenient that Boyd figured out that the torch was somehow magical.
While it all seemed that the status quo had been restored, this season finale delivers a mighty twist which on hindsight had already been hinted at with Boyd’s visions of his wife Abby and Father Kathri, both of whom were deceased. Do well to remember that Abby had tried to kill Ellis because she believed that everything was a dream and death was an escape back to reality. Just before Boyd destroyed the music box, Lynn instructed not to do anything and to wait for death instead.
Which brings us back to Tabitha, scaling the tower and being pushed to her death seemingly by the little boy in white. The final sequence has Tabitha back in reality, in a hospital bed, having being found in the forest by hikers! So… Abby was right all along, and Boyd is wrong?!! Or will Season 3 – if and when it happens – deliver yet another twist? Does it matter?!
… still there’s more …
