From S01E06 Story Analysis

From S01E06 is the sixth instalment of the first season of an American science fiction-horror television series created and written by John Griffin and executive produced by the Russo brothers. The premise – a seemingly normal middle American town is actually a nightmarish trap which keeps unwilling residents captive. But worse than that, at night murderous monsters roam the town and are only kept at bay if residents stay indoors and are protected by strange artefacts. Staying alive and searching for a way out occupy the minds of these unfortunate victims.

Entitled “Book 74”, From S01E06 can either be seen as an unnecessary thickening of the mystery box premise of the series or a step towards certain semblance of clarity in respect of solving said mystery box. We would lean more in favour of the former unfortunately. However, to be fair, this episode does show some of our characters making the decision to actively try to get out of the hellish situation they find themselves in.

READ OUR REVIEWS OF FROM.

To wit,
— Boyd decides to embark on a perilous journey through the woods, armed this time with an amulet to ward off the monsters (or so he hopes),
— Jade and Jim have an uneasy collaboration to get a radio device working in hopes of communicating with the ‘outside world’,
— Tabitha begins digging into the ground to figure out whether the fake electric cables go, and
— Father Khatri believes that perhaps the voices that Sara hears in her head may be for real and a possible escape route.

But of course, even more mysteries are introduced as Jade has a hallucination of a civil war era soldier and a symbol that Tian has seen before in a notebook in her diner storage (!) What does it all mean? And do the writers even know? And what ever happened to Victor???
