Bomp Pops – Bryan Hanna, Rick Durgin and Andrea Troolin –  existed from 1992 to 1994, played just four gigs and released material on a few scattered 7” singles.

Well, thanks to Grimsey Records (and label chief Troolin) more potential Bomb Pops fans will come to being with this compilation of singles, rarities and previously unreleased tracks.

Soft, fey pop in the fashion of Belle & Sebastian is probably a convenient hook to put on the Bomb Pops.

However, a deeper examination will reveal closer affinity with Galaxie 500, Heavenly (now Marine Research), the Hang Ups and the Go-Betweens.

Sophisticated, minimalist and yet evocative, Recommended For Diversion Seekers is definitely suggested listening for pop fans who want something smooth, jazzy and velvety in their music selection. C+
