Five new albums to get excited over! Don’t miss out!!

Happy Diving

HAPPY DIVING – ELECTRIC SOUL UNITY (TOPSHELF RECORDS)

Slacker rock fans are gonna devour Happy Diving whole as the band births that sludgy 90s rock vibe fully grown into life on this vibrant new album, aptly named Electric Soul Unity. The Bay Area band have all the hooks, power chords and casual vocal stylings down to a ’T’. Influences of Dinosaur Jr, early Teenage Fanclub and Eugene Kelly’s Captain America are vividly evident. https://www.facebook.com/happydivingca

Townes

TOWNES COSENTINO – A NEW KIND OF HELL EP (CREEP RECORDS) Street date: August 26th
Solo effort of Will Romeo of spirited punk rock band Gameday Regulars as he strips down his songwriting to the bare essentials. This four-track EP is far from modern punk and finds Romeo delving into territory usually explored by Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. Therefore, it’s basically country-folk songs delivered with as much honesty and emotion as you might expect. Robust songwriting that requires no embellishment to resonate with the listener.

Heidi Gluck

HEIDI LYNNE GLUCK – PONY SHOW (LOTUSPOOL RECORDS) Street date: August 26th

According to Gluck, Pony Show is about “seeking freedom while feeling trapped between one life and another”. There is a confessional tone permeating the entire work with elements of country-folk and soul, which coupled with Gluck’s gorgeous vocals, guarantees a strong emotional response from listeners. Cat Power and Neko Case feature as inspirations but often times, Gluck reaches back in time to Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, no mean feat. http://www.heidilynnegluck.com/

Hey Violet

HEY VIOLET – BRAND NEW MOVES EP (CAROLINE RECORDS)

This EP contains very pleasing components of modern R&B and 80s pop which we believe deserves mention amongst our recommended list of The New Rock N Roll. It’s teen savvy enough to get mainstream attention but enough nods to slick 80s production to sustain more credibility than most of their peers. “Fuqboi” especially is a scream! Recommended for pop-rock lovers of all ages!! http://www.heyviolet.com/

Country Lips

COUNTRY LIPS – TILL THE DAYLIGHT COMES (SELF-RELEASED)

Now this is more like it – forget country and western music’s awful reputation – Seattle’s Country Lips take their impetus from Gram Parsons’ assimilation of Merle Haggard, George Jones and Johnny Cash to provide authenticity to the proceedings. Not once does Till the Daylight Comes sound like pastiche, this is the real deal! Songs like “Grizzly Bear Billboard”, “Reason I’m Drinking” and the rest of this album will make you feel like you’re enjoying Country Lips in a beer-soaked dive, with a burden to unload. A delight to be appreciated in its entirety!! http://countrylips.com/
