Better Things Season 5 Episode 6 is the sixth instalment of the 5th (and final) season of an American comedy-drama television series created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K. for FX, starring Adlon as a divorced actress who raises her three daughters on her own. This final season brings back Sam Fox (Adlon) and her dysfunctional family of daughters, mother, brother, ex-husband and assorted close friends.
Entitled “San Francisco”, Better Things Season 5 Episode 6 is exactly as advertised – Sam goes to San Francisco to direct a sitcom, while eldest daughter Max is tasked with looking after home base. For both mother and daughter, the new experience is challenging and a little daunting but ultimately they pull through.

For Sam, she appears to be overwhelmed by the new adventure (and somewhat suffering from imposter syndrome), second guessing every decision she makes as cast and crew give her a hard time as one would expect. But as usual, Sam muddles through on the strength of her character and learns that she should give herself more credit than she does.
For Max, taking care of the household as well as a difficult Duke gives her renewed appreciation of what her mother has to put with on a daily basis. Perhaps ‘adulting’ isn’t quite all what it’s cracked up to be. It is heart-warming to witness how grown-up Max is now, compared to the spoiled brat of the first season.
And that is the beauty of Better Things Season 5 Episode 6 – it is a celebration of the simple things in life – nothing too dramatic or earth-shattering just life in all its mundanity. By now, it’s enough to simply engage with these endearing characters and simply enjoy the ride. Will miss this gorgeous series when it is over and done with.
