Bad Sisters Ep 5 is the fifth instalment of an Irish family crime drama cum black comedy streaming TV miniseries created by Sharon Horgen for AppleTV+. Set in Dublin, the miniseries is based on the Flemish series Clan, which was created by Malin-Sarah Gozin.

Entitled “An Eye for an Eye”, Bad Sisters Ep 5 is the mid-point of the miniseries and might be the best one so far. This time the focus is more or less on Bibi – the Garvey sister with one eye – and the instigator of the plot to murder brother-in-law John Paul. We also learn why Bibi is so determined to get rid of John Paul – another legitimate grievance, it must be said.

While there is still some plot development in the present regarding the Becka-Matt relationship as well as Eva’s attempts to shag her handsome colleague Gabriel, most of the narrative is spent in flashbacks. We discover that John Paul is partially responsible for Bibi losing her eye. In car crash, Bibi was push forward and her eye was impaled by a religious figurine! The metaphor is even stronger when it is revealed that Bibi is a lesbian and absolutely despises religious people.
Bad Sisters Ep 5 presents us with yet another murder plan after two failed attempts. This time Bibi will – during a paintball game – shoot a frozen pea into the hole in John Paul’s skull (suffered during aforementioned car crash), thereby killing him. As expected – there are still another five instalments to go! – Bibi fails and ironically injures the eye of an innocent bystander! Question is – how did Bibi and the sisters avoid any questions over this mishap in the aftermath? Guess we will find out next time.
Bad Sisters Ep 5 is a wonderful episode with insightful character development. Now, will Grace ultimately get in on the scheme as well – that is the question? Highly recommended!
