ALBUM REVIEW: TWINS – SQUARE AMERICA

TWINS band

Background
TWINS is a family band, rooted generations deep in the rich history of Iowa music. Brothers Harper & Joel Sires handle the songwriting and vocal duties, along with their cousin Luke Sires on drums. Devin Ferguson — bass guitar and vocals — has been playing with the Sires brothers since he was 16 years old and rounds out this rock and roll quartet’s uniquely American sound. TWINS has accepted its mission to Save Rock & Roll. And it couldn’t come at a better time.

Strengths
A throwback to the glory days of rock ’n’ roll undiluted by irony or compromise. Straightforward guitar rock that keeps things simple and to the point. Melodies you can singalong to with gusto and conviction. Good time party rock music that needs to come back and how!

Highlights
“Hot Stepper”, “Don’t Wanna Talk”, “Feels So Good”.

Sounds Like
The Rolling Stones, The Who, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, New York Dolls, Big Star.

Bottom Line
A rock ’n’ roll revivalist band that needs to be taken seriously. Messiahs? A tall order so maybe not but certainly Twins are going to give saving rock ’n’ roll their best shot. Enjoy the ride!
