POWER OF POP MUSIC ALBUM REVIEW: BRYAN ESTEPA & THE TEMPE TWO – EVERY LITTLE THING

ALBUM REVIEW: BRYAN ESTEPA & THE TEMPE TWO – EVERY LITTLE THING

Bryan Estepa

Background
Bryan Estepa is an acclaimed Sydney Singer-Songwriter, who has been labeled as one of Sydney’s best kept secrets. Having released 5 albums over the past decade, including the critics favourite ‘Vessels’ & ‘Heart vs Mind’, Estepa has truly made his presence known in the Australian Independent music scene.

Strengths
A consistent focus on melodic rock ’n’ roll styles e.g. early 70s singer-songwriter, Yacht rock and country-folk marks Estepa out as an artist that delivers a heartfelt easy-listening vibe. Even when the lyrical concepts get a little edgy, Estepa never quite ventures beyond the mid tempo momentum he sets firmly on this album. So while, Estepa truly cuts loose here, he does a good job communicating heart and soul through memorable melodies and harmonies.

Highlights
“Think of You”, “Object of my Disaffection”, “Practice What You Preach”, “Don’t Hurry Baby”.

Sounds Like
Neil Finn, Elliott Smith, Josh Rouse, The Jayhawks.

Bottom Line
A competent outing for Estepa that though never quite quickens the pulse, is highly suitable for those thoughtful, contemplative moments in life.
