But Kevin, I would draw the line at Black Metal, for some of their exponents have advocated murdering people and burning churches and some have actually done so.

"On the subject of beer, there were many drunk girls there. One in particular, hugged me from behind and when I turned, this strange young thing apologized and ran off. Later on (during Tokio Hotel’s set), there was this young Malay girl who was trying her hardest to get me to dance to the music and actually attempted to physically unfold my arms."

Wow Linda - re: your reply to the question "This is a fundamental question for all musicians but especially for Singaporeans but what is it about music that makes you so passionate?" is absolutely spot on - I think you totally hit the nail on the head there. Brutally honest, but it's an inconvenient truth if i ever heard one.

Kevin, did you stay for the Handsome Furs set at the Outdoor Theatre at 9pm last night? That has got to be a groudbreaking one as they succeeded in getting some of the normally-sedate Singapore audience there to get up on their feet and dance towards the end of their set. And in what is probably a first at The Esplanade Outdoor Theatre (and for Baybeats, as well), the crowd called for an encore, and the band (and the organisers!) obliged! The band simply blew the whole crowd away and had most of those near the stage up on their feet and dancing to their highly energetic, action-packed and passionate performance. A truly amazing and unforgettable experience!

Yeah! Sounds like its gonna be a great one! In this day & age when there's so much crap on the airwaves and it seems so unlikely that a band from the 80s could put aside their baggage and re-unite for an album, OMD seems to have done it! Oh joy!!!

It doesn't help that bodies like the NAC which are tasked with awarding grants, always insist that you show a "proven track record" before they give you any money for you to start your career as a musician or start up your music-related business. WTF is up with that? It's a like Catch-22 situation. How can a budding musician or aspiring record label starter show you any track record when they are just starting out?

for sure

X'ho, your point on hushed fascism is thoroughly accurate. and i don't doubt for a second that the reality is as such here. have read your essay on your blog and, aside from a very well written one, i agree with your sentiments.

Randolf, you make a very good point, placing the carriage in front of the horse.

if i may,
am presently voicing an impression where the ideal isn't so much about romanticizing togetherness amongst one another, it never is about pleasing, rather the importance of respect, how through respect amongst the circle, those who appreciate or care, is what's much needed.

with regards to journalists, it was about addressing the importance of information sharing responsibly. an account where inaccuracy is published points out to several factors to consider, a mistake overlooked, maybe, but should the journalist actually be present or was there to experience the event, such a mistake wouldn't occur. it does spell out to me that aside from assuming something happened (which is already a terrible thing to do for a journalist), a truth is ultimately hidden. and i think that this is a very simple case of responsibility. i don't suppose mere assumptions gave birth to Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. besides, this isn't politics at hand, this is about calling a table, a table. inaccuracy aside, the very idea of disregarding (i believe a little research wouldn't hurt) an act just because its local is absurd. lets not talk about the fact that no mention of the act is bad enough, but to put it in a light where a name isn't given whilst listing every other act speaks of prejudism to me. with a little bit of respect, these things, i believe, can be avoided.

i must thank you again Chris, your insight has carved holes in this mental wall.

if i may,
am presently voicing an impression where the ideal isn’t so much about romanticizing togetherness amongst one another, it never is about pleasing, rather the importance of respect, how through respect amongst the circle, those who appreciate or care, is what’s much needed.

with regards to journalists, it was about addressing the importance of information sharing responsibly. an account where inaccuracy is published points out to several factors to consider, a mistake overlooked, maybe, but should the journalist actually be present or was there to experience the event, such a mistake wouldn’t occur. it does spell out to me that aside from assuming something happened (which is already a terrible thing to do for a journalist), a truth is ultimately hidden. and i think that this is a very simple case of responsibility. i don’t suppose mere assumptions gave birth to Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle. besides, this isn’t politics at hand, this is about calling a table, a table. inaccuracy aside, the very idea of disregarding (i believe a little research wouldn’t hurt) an act just because its local is absurd. lets not talk about the fact that no mention of the act is bad enough, but to put it in a light where a name isn’t given whilst listing every other act speaks of prejudism to me. with a little bit of respect, these things, i believe, can be avoided.

i must thank you again Chris, your insight has carved holes in this mental wall.
