THE LISTENING BOOTH | THE NEW ROCK N ROLL : SPENCER ROBINSON & THE WOLF SPIDERS – “DRINK GASOLINE, SPIT FIRE”

Spencer Robinson brings an interesting perspective to the now marginalised art form we call Rock ‘n’ Roll.

Robinson possesses garage rock cred, having played bass with Lords of Altamont, the man reveres Tom Waits, has a quiff that suggests an affinity with the 50s, and he describes his new music as “a little darker, a little grittier; music for drinking, crying, driving, and dying.”

New song “Drink Gasoline, Spit Fire” – off upcoming album Beneath the Surface (out in November) – delivers on the promise that Robinson outlines above.
