London-based soul quintet, Mamas Gun are sharing their new single “On The Wire” – the latest to be taken from their Golden Days album, due out this Friday (May 18) via Candelion.
Channeling a cool 70s R&B vibe, Mamas Gun take on board a distinctive 21st century sensibility, with the lyrics of “On The Wire” staking out a definite socio-political edge.
Frontman and founder of the band, Andy Platts says: “The lyrics to ‘On The Wire’ were written in the haze of media misinformation and heated debate in the weeks leading up to the so called ‘Brexit’ vote. It was a rally cry for people to think carefully, to make their decision rationally and not on the throw of some emotionally loaded dice fuelled by a misguided sense of patriotism.”
