The Steve McQueens found time in between tours of Australia and South Korea to bring their magic jazz-soul-funk ride to home fans at the Annexe Sessions on Thursday, September 29th.
The Esplanade’s spanking new venue The Annexe got off to a flying start earlier this month with scintillating performances from the Chok Kerong Trio and In Each Hand a Cutlass.
Exciting news for fans of live Singapore music as the Esplanade opens up a new venue, The Annexe with the launch of the Annexe Sessions.
This takes place in early September with two top notch instrumental outfits viz. the Chok Kerong Trio (8pm, 1st)) and In Each Hand a Cutlass (11pm, 2nd).
Both gigs are priced at $15 (inclusive of 1 drink). Cash only, tickets at the door.

As much as I spent most of my time at Baybeats 2016 hosting the Open Stage, I was fortunate to catch three performances that reminded me why I love Singapore Rock as much as I do.
So stoked that the first day of Baybeats Open Stage went swimmingly! Thanks to The Esplanade, the wonderful crew, Josh and Jaz, the awesome artists and everyone who turned up. One more time today from 5.30pm!
I firmly believe that in order to thrive, the Singapore music scene must place its bets on original music and build its own culture and community, something unique that can travel beyond Singapore.
With the likes of Laneway Festival and Neon Lights Festival providing healthy competition, Singapore’s original alternative music festival, Baybeats, returns with a lineup of regional acts that will fit almost every discerning alternative music fan’s taste. Kudos to The Esplanade!

As promised, we present to you thoughts of the collaborative artists behind Dimensions & Demons, to be performed at the Esplanade Recital Studio on 5th November.
“An exercise in deromanticizing nostalgia, A Carnival of Confessions is a collaborative piece by prolific writer Dave Chua and music wondergirl weish, exploring the relation between guilt and imagination.”
“Dive into dream worlds coloured by words and music, the creative outcomes of three collaborative projects between Singapore writers and musicians. Each interprets a dream in all its intimacy and duality, navigating through the blurry spaces of consciousness and the boundaries of conscience.”
