PoPTV: JUDE YOUNG’S WAVES OF TOMORROW IS AN HONEST ARTISTIC EXPRESSION TO SG50 CELEBRATION

The national celebration of Singapore’s independence has brought out many diverse items, music wise. But singer-songwriter Jude Young’s “Wave of Tomorrow” and accompanying video may be the most heartfelt and straightforward thus far. The video – directed & shot by Jeremy Kieran Ng – is not fancy and lacks frills but gets the job done effectively but it is in the competent songwriting that the emotional resonance of what it means to be Singaporean in this special year is shared. No mean feat!

“Ride on this tide/We’ll fly side by side/On the waves of tomorrow/The chase starts today/With these guiding stars and/The shine from the moon so bright/So you can count on me/To keep you free
Yeah you can shout your name across the shores/Singapore”

Kudos to all involved!

KEVIN SAYS …

It’s the first day of the new year and there’s a feeling of beginnings in the air. Well, of course, it’s actually just another day but what we do with the next 12 months is up to us, really.

2015 is the 50th anniversary of Singapore’s independence and by now, “SG50” will either excite, bore, annoy or terrify you. Personally I am hoping that “SG50” will allow all of us living on this island to love and appreciate one another. Yes, as simple as that.

Also, I am praying for deeper understanding of Singapore history, especially in the arts. Not so much of recrimination and blame but a year of healing where the art & music made in Singapore may be restored to its proper place in the hearts, minds & souls of all who call Singapore their home.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
