Background The Lees Of Memory — which features erstwhile Superdrag frontman John Davis & guitarist Brandon Fisher, along with drummer Nick Slack — recently released its sophomore LP, Unnecessary Evil. The new album, a follow up to the band’s 2014 debut Sisyphus Says, once again saw them working with Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz and his team at Rock Falcon Studios in TN.
Background Nathan Corsi, an Akron, Ohioan, made his way to Kansas City after a featured role in a year-long documentary about life as a busker in New York. It wasn’t long before Nathan and Liam Sumnicht, drummer native to KC, hooked up to form Not A Planet. A rotating cast of bass players tagged in and out alongside the duo on national tours and local shows for years, but in 2012, William Sturges enlisted as a permanent player.
Background The Explorers Club are a pop-rock band originally from the coast of South Carolina. The music of their first album is heavily influenced by the vocal harmony styles and production of The Beach Boys.They are also influenced by classic rock and roll arrangements as made popular by 60s pop bands. On Together, the band roped in Brian Wilson Band members Darian Sahanaja, Probyn Gregory, Nelson Bragg and Scott Bennett for notable collaborations.
Background Popincourt is Olivier, a Frenchman in love with 80s British sophisticated pop. Building up his repertoire over a decade, Popincourt put together this album with a small team formed by people met at concerts, including Hervé Bouétard (Bertrand Burgalat) on drums & Ken Stringfellow (Posies) on bass.
Background Twin Peaks was formed by four young Chicago natives (vocalist/guitarist Cadien Lake James, guitarist Clay Frankel, bassist Jack Dolan, and drummer Connor Brodner) in the early 2010s. The band have so far earned a solid reputation for its garage punk sound.
