Here’s a brilliant set of fan-made videos of Sting‘s recent Back To Bass Tour performance in Europe. As some of you may know, I am a huge Sting fan and it’s amazing how good the man looks at his age (he’s a decade older than I am!). It’s fun to see this icon in intimate settings with a basic band setup doing what he does best! Sting plays in Singapore Indoor Stadium 13th Dec 2012 at 8pm.

ARE YOU MADE OF STONE?

Simply put, The Stones Roses proved their skeptics (including yours truly) WRONG! This controversial reunion tour was not about one last massive paycheck (well, not only in any case) but judging from what was happening on stage – the verve, the energy, the sheer joy of performance and the chemistry amongst Reni, John Squire, Mani and Ian Brown, it was clear that the music was uppermost in the band’s mind and giving the fans exactly what they wanted.

THIS IS THE ONE

From about 1985 to 1988 (give or take), I had given up on music (!) to focus on comic book collecting (the music scene in Singapore was pretty dire in the mid-80s) but slowly but surely in 1989, I came back, buying numerous cassettes (much cheaper than vinyl). This time frame coincided with Manchester band Stone Roses (Ian Brown, Chris Squire, Mani & Reni) fledging steps into the UK music scene. So when the eponymous album was released I picked it up due to the enthusiastic reviews in UK music weeklies.

Canadian singer-songwriter, Avril Lavigne returns to Singapore on 9 May to perform at the Indoor Stadium in The Black Star Tour, to promote her fourth album Goodbye Lullaby. Lavigne was last here in 2008 and performed a sold out concert in front of her legions of local fans.
