Armed with a self-titled debut EP, musical quintet Seyra made a strong debut in Baybeats 2011 and toured the city ever since with their hits such as “Skinny Lips”, “You Make Me Go”, “Forwards and Back” to name a few. Excited to spread the love to India, the band led a launch party last night at The Pigeonhole, alongside the brilliant The Sets Band and upcoming singer-songwriter Jonathan Meur.

If you are born in the 90s, chances are The Click Five would have been a significant part of your teenage life.

Now the frontman of the band, Kyle Patrick, is going solo. He says, “I’m trying to reinvent myself. As I grow older, their life gets into a pattern, and now I just wanna get out of the pattern. The band [The Click Five] is not splitting up. They have been really supportive about this [EP] and I am supportive of them [in productions and compositions they do] as well.”

“A minute for the long haul, I’m with you to the end…  Years later I decided to come college and I got to the University of San Diego. My parents were so happy but I studied Religion, Spanish and Political Science so I knew I don’t have a job but at least I know why.” That’s Steve Poltz for you. Though several days have passed after his gig at Esplanade Recital Studio, the encore, The Long Haul, is still stuck in my head. The San Diego musician would score, or probably do way better, as a stand-up comedian.

It’s been six years since Kerplunk! Studios and Productions came bursting onto the scene like an angry punk band wanting to be heard. Six long years of great music and good vibes have passed and thousands of stories have been set on stone, from having given birth to upstart bands such as Angulo and all the way to being called home by the likes of Asian music icons Kjwan, Kerplunk! or Kerp as it’s extended family would call it is six years old, or better yet, six years and counting. Faspitch, The Ambassadors, Subscapular, and a whole lot of other well-known names have one time or another holed up in Kerplunk! to lay down their sound.
