Thoughts about how the various superhero TV shows did this week. Spoilers, duh!
AGENTS OF SHIELD 317
Here’s the big surprise – AoS was the best superhero TV series this week! This episode had everything!
From the reveal that Hive could mind control Inhumans to Malick’s death to Fitz and Simmons locking lips, it was a packed episode!
Now we understand why folks at the top were concerned about Daisy’s powers as she goes dark on us. Excellent set up for the final episodes of the season. Kudos!
THE FLASH 218
With the amount of eager anticipation for the next confrontation between the Flash and Zoom, all we get is a prolonged examination of how naive Barry Allen is and how inept he really is at the superhero game.
Is that part of the deal with Barry? But what about the rest of the team? Why do they sit idly on their hands whilst they help a psycho-killer become even faster? Why is the Flash team so collectively stupid?
Hugely disappointing. It’s not as if the grand plan was upset by something unforeseen, instead, it was undone by the fact that Barry and the Flash team suck at what they do. Ugh.
SUPERGIRL 120 (Season Finale)
In the final analysis, Supergirl basically succeeds due to Melissa Benoist’s undeniable charm as the titular character but occasionally that need to leverage on Benoist’s personality backfires.
This season finale is a glaring example of this flaw. Story-wise, the episode is paper-thin with typical plot-holes aplenty.
Sappiness was the order of the day with Supergirl’s sentimental broadcast and the various farewell speeches Kara made before the big confrontation with Non and Indigo.
In addition, there was an unnecessary cliffhanger that cynically left viewers on tether hooks in anticipation of season 2 – which has not been officially confirmed yet! A slightly above-average series with room for much improvement in the story-telling department.
No Arrow this week.
