We are writing about Izzy Rocks not because his new album – Metamorphosis – is slickly produced, perfectly played or market researched to an inch of its life.
In fact, the opposite is true BUT there is a rock ‘n’ roll spirit in Izzy’s take on the 90s alt-rock that he is obviously passionate about – the Britpop and Grunge sound prominent.
The songs are raw in places but brilliant in others and the production is relatively lofi but it’s impossible to resist the sheer innocent uncynical love for the material that permeates every note.
And in an age where so much local music is joyless, mechanical and indistinct, Izzy Rocks and Metamorphosis are welcome! PoP faithful, rejoice!
… still there’s more …
