You may laugh and scoff but I still believe in rock ‘n’ roll in whatever new forms it may take. So, here’s BATTS!
BATTS is Melbourne singer-songwriter Tanya Batt, who has been picking up favourable comparisons to the likes of Angel Olsen, Courtney Barnett, Mazzy Star and Sharon Van Etten in the last couple of years.
The mid-tempo melancholy ballad “Shame” showcases again Batt’s distinctive larynx, melodic knack and no-nonsense old-school songwriting approach.
According to Batt, “Shame” is about the need to help change/improve Earth, but covers the want for humans to find and colonise another.
“Maybe Saturn, Jupiter or Mars, where Bowie watches us through the stars”. Great sentiment!
… still there’s more …
