Ironic how ‘genre’ labels make so much difference nowadays. Take “pop-punk” – one of the worst rock ‘genres’ ever coined – turn it around to “punk-rock” and it becomes something vital, vibrant and meaningful.
Which brings us to Tales From A Punk Rock Rock Trip a new mini-album split between Hooligan Crooners and B-Leaguers.
From start to finish, the mini-album represents everything that makes punk-rock such a relevant ‘genre’ even in 2017 – no compromising the punk intent with a dated millennial whoop or clichéd careening chorus – instead it’s all about power chords, pummelling drums and genuinely melodic choruses!
Highlights for us include B-Leaguers’ “World Famous (in a little town)” and Hooligan Crooners’ “Holy Shit!!” These are simple examples of how punk-rock is done right – with the influences of The Ramones, The Clash and the like ringing out in every track.
