PoP RECOMMENDS | POWER POP ROCK N ROLL : SHELVES – EP

Five years in the making, this new Shelves EP is a kick in the arse for Singapore music as far as melodic rock is concerned.

With main man Noel Yeo based in New York nowadays, it’s not quite the return Shelves fans might have hoped for but in the context of the contemporary Singapore music scene, it’s a literal godsend!

The six-track EP is a breath of fresh air and sounds as if Shelves never left us. The guitars crunch, the drums pummel and the tunes shimmer. Everything you expected and more.

Highlights include “Another Gurl”, “Fake in Me” and “Brittle Hearts” – all of which channel the 90s take on 60s pop, as demonstrated by the likes of Teenage Fanclub, Dinosaur Jr., Velvet Crush, Gumball et al.

Absolutely essential for the PoP faithful out there. You know who you are.
